What We Do

Medical Services' Specialist Fleet

Managing a changing landscape

Britain’s health politics are constantly changing the landscape for independent companies who serve the public and private sectors.

At Medical Services we have long recognized the importance of being flexible  in a changing environment to meet the differing, often conflicting, demands we face; our response has been to  put in place a successful management and operational structure which every day

  • Maintains high quality service levels and continues to meet customers’ pre-determined key performance indicators against a background of changing peaks of activity;
  • Devises innovative plans for efficiency savings;
  • Provides strong leadership in the development and implementation of managed services.

Flexibility the key

No part of our business is flexibility more essential than in our vehicle fleet.

Every day patients are being told that they have to wait for an ambulance to take them home because the vehicle is the wrong design for them and they need a ‘special’ one. Such problems conflict with respecting patient’s dignity, a key aspect of the Care Quality Commission.

Traditionally stretcher vehicles were used for accident and emergency work and sitting vehicles was the domain of patient transport services; continuing demands have required the provider to develop vehicles that are cost effective, meet basic safety requirements and are environmentally friendly and most importantly are designed to meet patient’s needs.

Medical Services have embraced these demands but have taken a step further, providing vehicles with total flexibility that seek to enhance the patient experience whilst meeting the outcomes expected by the CQC. We have reviewed how we assess and monitor the quality of service provision; we have reviewed and strengthened infection control and cleanliness of our fleet and have ensured that we provide safe and suitable vehicles and equipment.

To achieve our aims we have needed to work with suppliers and vehicle convertors with the end result being innovative flexible vehicles that ensure the safety and security of both patients and staff.

Above all we have designed our vehicles to ensure patients have their privacy, dignity and independence respected, and have their views and experiences taken into account.
