About Us
The roots of Medical Services Limited can be traced back more than 30 years to the Harley Street Runners, a small courier company set up to serve the private medical community in London’s West End, known as “The Medical Mile”.
Through a series of changing owners, the Harley Street Runners became part of Lewis Day Transport Group plc which in (2003) launched Medical Services, a patient transport division alongside what by then had become Medical Couriers.
In the following years Medical Services and Medical Couriers was expanded to meet the growth in demand for our services from contracted NHS primary care trusts and the private healthcare sector.
To enable the business to continue to grow Lewis Day decided to establish it as a self-contained independent company with a board of directors with both commercial as well as NHS expertise.
The change occurred in April 2011 and today the company has a turnover of (£25 million), (400) employees operating from newly developed Centres of Excellence ambulance stations in Bow, East London, Alperton, West London, as well as Luton (Beds) and regional hubs in Warrington, Cheshire and Swansea, Wales; the main Medical Couriers locations are in central London, Brighton, Sussex, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Swansea.
