Transporting organs for transplant

Transporting organs has to be done quickly and safely, as speed is of the essence in transplant surgery.

Our specialist teams can deliver organs local, nationally and internationally. We have 22 locations across the UK and a fleet of 1100 vehicles, including:

We also have links with all private airlines, in the event that organ transportation is required over long distances at high speed.

As well as transporting organs, Medical Services staff can move surgery teams and blood supplies as necessary.

Using our fleet of vehicles

Our entire fleet of vehicles can be used for transporting organs or medical staff, depending on the circumstances. We also offer efficient and comfortable patient transport in the UK.

Motorcycles can be used for fast, local deliveries. Small packages are ideally suited for carrying on courier-style motorbikes.

Response vehicles can carry larger objects, and are able to operate under blue light conditions. All our vehicles used for transporting organs and our private ambulances are on hand 24 hours a day.

Selected drivers responsible for transporting organs have advanced IHCD driving skills. You can be sure that items for transplant will arrive quickly and safely.

Our organ transportation service operates only under NHS authority and guidelines. As such, it is not available to private healthcare providers.

Technology for transporting organs

Time is critical in transplant operations. That is why our driving staff are supported by cutting-edge technology.

Advanced GPS units are fitted in all our vehicles. This allows us to track vehicle positions and pinpoint the driver closest to you, if an urgent pick-up is required.

By transporting organs, carrying out blood transportation and even moving medical staff, Medical Services play an important part of many successful operations.
